This documentary was interesting to watch regardless of whether you believe in what they’re saying or not. Although the footage and the people in it don't always seem believable, it has some interesting theories as to where mermaids may have come from and the documentation of them in different cultures. Also they give interesting views on mermaid anatomy and how they could be seen. This could aid me in drawing/creating my own type of mermaid for Portsmouth.
Linking it to modern day mass whale beachings etc also makes it more believable as its in a contemporary setting which is something I could apply in my project.
It also gave interesting ideas about why they are so secretive and hidden, because they are different, humanity has always rejected them and treated them like we do animals, with hunting etc. This could link nicely into my exploration of perfection and how humanity reacts to this concept.
